Justin ( JT) Newton road to recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Robin Newton. As many friends and family know, my son Justin ( Jt) Newton had been in a horrible motorcycle accident on July 17th. I am trying to raise funds because as of this moment, we don't know how high his medical bills may be or when he will be able to go back to work or what capacity he will be able to work. His job is a workover rig which is strenuous, not to mention high in the air.I am trying to help Justin pay medical bills as well as keep his truck. As for the Harley, personally I want to torch it, but insurance says it's fixable at this moment. He has lost his health, and work for now. I don't want him to lose everything. Any funds received will strictly go to his medical and living expenses.
To give you a back story, on July 17th Justin was heading to our place from his home an hour away to stay in town to work on his days off. At 10:50 pm, we got an alert on our phone from Life 360 to check on my boy. We rushed out of the house and headed to his location. As we reached the top of the hill, our worst nightmare was facing us. First responders were there and my son was laying in the ditch unresponsive. We lost it. He wasn't wearing a helmet and his Harley was farther away. We will never know exactly what happened. The medical staff was amazingly fast and rushed him to our local er to life flight him to a trauma center 100 miles away. That was the longest drive of our lives as when we left the er, his prognosis was dire. I prayed to God, the wish on a star and the man in the moon that our little boy would fight. We got to the trauma center as he was being settled in ICU. We were met by a chaplain and then the neurosurgeon who explained he drilled a hole in my boys head to monitor his cranial pressure as well as he was on a ventilator and in a medical coma. He said the 1st 72 hours are the rockiest. We did not know if he would survive and once past 72, we wouldn't know of any damage. He fractured his C2 vertebra and his nasal cavity as well as had bleeding in 3 spots of his brain. They couldn't sit him up for days to try and relieve his pressure on his brain because of the C2 fracture. I hated that monitor that always seemed to go sky high. Finally after 72 hours, they raised the bed a little and his brain pressure went down some. They decided to wake him up a little and then would sedate him again when the monitor went sky high. During the night, he awoke and tore the monitor out of his skull and was working on the ventilator when the nurses subdued him. At this point I knew my baby would live. Something that all I wanted to hear for days from the drs and staff. It took a bit to get his ventilator off and then to see how well he breathed on his own as well as talking and his motor functioning. He then was released to PCU where he stayed for 3 more days. 8 days after his accident, I was able to bring my boy home. He can walk and talk, but is suffering severe headaches and neck pain. He is out of work for the unforeseeable future.
We do not know what the medical expenses will be. He also has his own regular bills. I put in a number for donations, but honestly have no clue what he will need to at least be able to keep his truck and pay the medical bills ( which in all honesty will be probably alot more than i put in ) Prayers are welcomed as well as anything anyone can do to help. Gene and I are going to do all we can, but we were hit with unexpected expense of lodging for a week as well as not working ourselves because we just couldnt leave our baby when it was really rocky on his survival. I have never been so scared in my life. The chaplain was great and directed us to a house across the street from the hospital that put up people whose loved ones were there. Lucky for us, because the state fair was in town and hotels were kicking people out because rooms were reserved to see Kid Rock, Nelly , Sam Hunt and others. We would have had to stay in our truck. I am so happy God blessed us with great support from the first responders to the drs and nurses and therapy staff, who all helped our boy survive.
I will be in charge of any funds raised and released until Justin is feeling better. Right now I am digging thru insurance to see if any help there. Any help or words you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much !
