HI All,
My name is Teresa and most of you don’t know me, but I am or was Justin Grady’s wife. As most of you know, we lost Justin suddenly, late last year. Unfortunately, we may never know exactly why. Many of you heard that he was helping a friend move and that he had a bad fall. While it is true, Justin was helping a friend and did have a fall, we do not know for sure if this is what caused his death. It is with great sorrow that I inform you he was alone at the time of his death and was found by the neighbors outside of his home in Oakland. Other than those details, currently, we are unsure what the cause of death was.
Justin and I met through online dating. He had sent me a couple of messages, but living in the South Bay, I felt Oakland was too far. However, his smile was infectious and after three or four more messages, I agreed to speak over the phone. As soon as I heard his voice, my heart melted. We spoke for almost two hours that first day, back and forth, finding common ground and realizing we might have crossed paths earlier in our lives when we were both sewing our wild oats in the San Jose Hot Spot known as Toons! It was a great conversation and I finally agreed to meet.
On that first date, back in February of 2017, my knees were shaking, and my stomach was full of butterflies. I didn’t know what it was, and my roommate at the time can attest, there was something about this guy, this date, that I knew was going to be different. Now, my longtime friends and family can tell you that in 2015, after I divorced my first husband, I vowed I was never going to marry again. Justin knew I felt this way, yet he continued to pursue me, love me and convince me that he would be worth it. The rest, as they say, is History.
Justin was a kind generous soul. He Loved to interact with people whenever and wherever he was. He liked to antagonize some more than others, but he always meant it harmlessly. He especially loved to feed people. Numerous days were spent in my kitchen cooking meals, preparing to deliver to friends and family all over the bay. He would go out of his way to ensure those around him were well-fed.
Justin’s love of the water ultimately led us to Maui. Just last year, we were able to spend two weeks with friends and family for our wedding. It was a beautiful day that came and went way too quickly. We barely got to enjoy being husband and wife, let alone complete all the paperwork that comes with it. This brings me to why we have created this go fund me. His death took us completely by surprise, he had no will and our finances were not merged. I am just looking for a little bit of help to cover the cost of his cremation and to carry out his final wishes. I thank you in advance for reading this far and for Loving Justin as much as I do.
