This wasn’t supposed to happen. It wasn’t supposed to end like that. Not for Justin. Not for my brother. But it did. And our world shattered.
Justin Conroy was a son, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, a grandson, a friend, a home owner, a mechanic, a chef, and more. But, he was also an addict. You would never know it. He was always well dressed, freshly shaved, and smelling good. He always had a smile on his face to help a friend or family member out. But under those good looks, was a struggling young man dealing with the dark disease of addiction. Justin had a huge team of family and friends supporting him along the way, but in the end, Heaven called his name at the young age of 32.
This fundraiser is for all of his friends and family to contribute to a park bench at Kildonan Park in his honour. It is our gift to Justin. A place where we can go to talk to him, to laugh with him, to cry with him. A place for remembering JKon, Conny, Uncle Justin, or Justin. Whatever you called him, he loved you.
Once the bench is completed, we will share with you the exact location. There will be a plaque that states, “In memory of Justin Conroy”. Any additional funds will be donated to the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre.
