Justin Chauret Strong

If you know Justin, you know 3 things about him:

One, his family is the most important thing to him.

Two, he loves hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

Three, he is the hardest worker you have ever met.

Justin Chauret is 35 years old, and his family means everything to him. Justin has been married to his wife Jessica since 2017, and they have a son, Bear, who just turned one in January. Justin has always had a passion for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and fresh air bring peace and serenity to his life. Justin has worked for HEB for almost 19 years. He started working at HEB when he was 16 years old as a grocery bagger, and he has worked his way up to become a grocery manager. Justin’s health has always been a priority to him, and he has always been very physically fit.

In January, Justin became sick, with what we thought was just a stubborn case of pneumonia; however, instead of getting better, he got worse and worse. He started experiencing a worsening cough and an elevated heart rate. On February 4th, Justin went to the doctor who then sent him to the hospital for further testing. After being admitted to the hospital he was later diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. His heart was extremely enlarged. He has had many procedures and surgeries including: placing a balloon pump in his heart, later having to upgrade to another heart implant called an impella to help his heart beat, and was also placed on an ECMO machine. The ECMO does the work of the heart and lungs taking his blood, oxygenating it and then pumping it back into his body.  He has been shocked 2 times because of his heart failure issues. He has also been placed on ventilators, and has had to undergo many dialysis treatments. He started out at Methodist Hospital in Stone Oak. He has since been transferred to the Cardiac failure  ICU unit at the Main Methodist Hospital .He was placed on a heart transplant list, and then removed from the list because his lungs had significantly worsened. The medical staff is still trying to determine the cause.

Justin is a fighter and a fierce competitor. When he was placed off of the heart transplant list, he was determined to go back on the list. He pushed himself, and listened intently to the medical staff. The first day he could walk, they wanted him to walk 10 ft, he walked 70 ft! He kept this motivation up, and on Monday, March 8th, Justin was placed back on the heart transplant list as a level one, which means if a heart  becomes available and is a match for him, he will go through a heart transplant surgery.

This GoFund Me was created to help Justin and his family with the medical expenses from his hospital stay and for any future medical expenses they might endure. Justin and Jessica have been overwhelmed with all the love and support, and they greatly appreciate any donation amount.
