Justin and Sara - House Flooded!

Hi, we're Justin and Sara (and our dogs: Nova, Lilly and Willow). We are Americans living in Stotzheim-Euskirchen in Germany while Sara attends the University of Cologne. Our apartment was flooded during the massive flooding event in Western Germany on the 14th of July. Our power was out for 7 days and we lost all our food in the fridge and some of our furniture was also damaged. We had two inches of mud in our bathroom and front hallway and living room. The trains and buses are still not running two weeks later, so we have had to rent a car. We thought we'd be able to just clean up and move on, however, it seems that we will have to find a new place to live because of black mold growing in the walls. Therefore, we will need to vacate our current apartment for up to six months while the mold is cleaned up and the floors repaired. Due to recent cancer treatment for Nova, and the cost of renting a car, we are scraping the bottom of our savings. It will be impossible to move to a new apartment without financial help.
