Con el corazón destrozado comparto la tragedia que ha marcado para siempre a nuestra familia.

El 24 de octubre, mi sobrina —a quien crié y apoyé como a una hija— fue víctima de feminicidio en Callao, Perú.

Esa mañana, Krystal fue interceptada cuando se dirigía a su trabajo, amenazada con un arma de fuego y llevada a un hotel en La Perla, donde su vida fue cruelmente arrebatada. No era la primera vez que él la atacaba. Solo un día antes, la había agredido en su casa. Una vecina presenció la agresión y alertó a la madre de Krystal, quien intervino para proteger a su hija. Ese mismo día, Krystal, su madre y su hermana menor acudieron a la comisaría de San Miguel para denunciar el intento de asesinato, las amenazas y los meses de acoso. A pesar de sus súplicas, la policía no tomó ninguna acción ni ofreció protección; simplemente les dijeron que “lo iban a buscar.”

A la mañana siguiente, él volvió a encontrarla. Durante meses la había perseguido y amenazado con matar a su madre, a su hermana y a ella misma si se negaba a estar con él. Krystal hizo todo lo correcto: denunció el abuso, pidió ayuda y luchó por vivir libre del miedo, pero el sistema falló en protegerla.

Krystal era mucho más que una víctima de feminicidio. Era una joven llena de luz, bondad y fortaleza. Trabajaba incansablemente para ayudar a su madre a pagar las cuentas y para apoyar la educación de su hermana menor, Tatiana. Era como una segunda madre para su hermana, siempre poniendo a su familia primero y compartiendo amor dondequiera que iba.

El dolor de esta tragedia va más allá de las palabras. Su madre y su hermana menor no tuvieron la oportunidad de despedirse correctamente ni de verla por última vez, porque él la golpeó con tanta brutalidad que quedó irreconocible. Ninguna familia debería soportar un dolor tan profundo ni cargar con la imagen de tanta crueldad.

Ahora, su madre y su hermana enfrentan un duelo insoportable y la pesada carga de los gastos funerarios y legales. Debido a que el asesino pertenece a una institución militar y la policía no actuó, la familia debe buscar justicia mediante acciones legales independientes.

Esta recaudación busca reunir fondos para cubrir los gastos funerarios y de entierro, los honorarios legales y judiciales, el apoyo inmediato a la familia, la terapia para la madre y la hermana menor, entre otros.

Cualquier contribución, sin importar lo pequeña que sea, ayudará a nuestra familia a encontrar justicia para Krystal y a exigir responsabilidad a las instituciones que fallaron en protegerla. With a broken heart, I share the tragedy that has forever marked our family.

On October 24th, my niece — whom I raised and supported as my own daughter — was the victim of femicide in Callao, Peru.

That morning, Krystal was intercepted on her way to work, threatened with a firearm, and taken to a hotel in La Perla where her life was cruelly taken. This was not the first time he had attacked her. Just one day earlier, he had assaulted her at home. A neighbor witnessed the attack and alerted Krystal’s mother, who intervened to protect her daughter. That same day, Krystal, her mother, and her younger sister went to the San Miguel police station to report the attempted murder, threats, and months of harassment. Despite their desperate pleas, the police took no action and offered no protection — they simply told them they would “look for him.”

The next morning, he found her again. For months, he had stalked and threatened to kill her mother, her sister, and her if she refused to be with him. Krystal did everything right — she reported the abuse, asked for help, and fought to live free from fear — but the system failed to protect her.

Krystal was much more than a victim of femicide. She was a young woman full of light, kindness, and strength. She worked tirelessly to help her mother pay the bills and to support her younger sister Tatiana’s education. She was like a second mother to her sister, always putting her family first and spreading love wherever she went.

The pain of this tragedy goes beyond words. Her mother and younger sister never had the chance to say goodbye or see her one last time, because he had beaten her so brutally that she was left unrecognizable. No family should ever have to endure such deep pain or carry the image of such cruelty.

Now, her mother and sister face unbearable grief and the heavy burden of funeral and legal expenses. Because the killer belongs to a military institution and the police failed to act, the family must seek justice through independent legal action.

This fundraiser aims to raise funds to cover funeral and burial expenses, legal and court fees, immediate family support, therapy for the mother and younger sister, among other needs.
