Justice for Shotgun

Donation protected
This is Shotgun. He is a gentle giant. He was wrongfully and unlawfully killed by our local shelter, Lowndes County Animal Shelter. We want justice for our baby. Here is his story. On October 26th, Shotgun went missing. Multiple posts were made on Facebook lost/found pet groups to bring him home. He ended up at a neighbors' house about a block away from his home. When Shotgun showed up at this neighbors' house, the neighbor decided to make a Facebook post as well, although neither of us found the others' post. After two days of Shotgun making appearances at this neighbors' house, she decided to call the local animal shelter. On October 28th, this neighbor reported a pitt bull on her property to which the Lowndes County Animal Shelter sent a dog catcher over. Mind you, Shotgun has never once been a leash dog. We have tried, but he is terrified of them. He always comes when he is called and that's just how he was raised. Now, when the dog catcher put the soft collar around Shotgun's neck, he began to freak out, causing the collar to tighten more and more. The dog catcher noted, in the Open Record (photos provided in Updates on Gofundme profile), that Shotgun's tongue was hanging out of his mouth and was a dark purple color. All while Shotgun is being choked to death, terrified on a leash, the neighbor's dogs were attacking Shotgun and the animal catcher dragged him to the vehicle. This took place around 1pm on October 28th. Nearly 6 hours later, we found the neighbor and learned that Shotgun was at the shelter. As soon as we called the shelter, they said that they did not pick up our dog! Even though we spoke to the person who called the shelter! October 29th, my fiancé went to the shelter to look for Shotgun, but he was nowhere to be seen. The shelter continued to say that they did not have him. We called again insisting we had proof that Shotgun was taken by Lowndes County Animal Shelter and was hung up on. Late at night on October 29th, we were given a call by the shelter and told to be there first thing in the morning. October 30th comes and we were there first thing they opened to again be told that they could not tell us wether the dog was alive or not without first going to the court house and receiving an open record request, which was done. Photos of the open record are provided, but for-warning to those with a faint heart, it is devastating to read, and graphic. Shotgun did not deserve the abuse he was put through. He was put down after only 3 MINUTES of being at the shelter for being aggressive even though they put in the open record that Shotgun had no bite history. Shotgun, and all other dogs who were not given a chance by Lowndes County Animal Shelter deserve justice! We are taking this to federal court. Lowndes County Animal Shelter broke city ordinances, local laws, state laws, and federal laws when they murdered our baby. In order for us to make a change, we need the money for our lawyer. Help us fight this animal cruelty and abuse of power by the Lowndes County Animal Shelter! Anything helps, even a share on social media will help us make a difference.
