I am Danielle Plazo Hicban, and I'm here to honor the memory of my beloved cousin, Rasheed Plazo, known as Sheed to those close to him. At 26 years young, Rasheed's vibrant spirit was tragically taken from us. He was one of five descendants of our dear family, deeply rooted in the legacies of Lolo Domingo and the late Lola Coring's children: Nenia Plazo Garcia, Vilma Plazo Hicban, and his late father, Renato "Botoy" Plazo.
Rasheed was a shining soul working at a call center in Cebu City, Philippines. He was cherished for his infectious laughter, boundless energy, and unwavering support for those around him. Unapologetically himself, Rasheed embraced his identity, becoming a beacon of pride and confidence. On October 29, 2023 his life was unexpectedly cut short by a senseless act of violence at the hands of someone he considered a friend.
This fundraiser supports Rasheed's family, who reside in the serene province of Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. The funds will assist in covering funeral and burial costs, as well as the transfer of his remains and legal expenses. The proceeds will be directly provided to his mother, my aunt, Loila Moreno Plazo, and his younger brother, Butch Plazo, to help alleviate the financial burden during this devastating time.
Rasheed was a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, advocating for inclusivity in his workplace and among his peers. His passion for makeup artistry was showcased through TikTok, where he fearlessly displayed his skills and love for vibrant hair colors. His love for life, fun, and mischievous pranks were cherished by all who knew him.
Rasheed's unwavering pride in his identity should never have cost him his life. We are determined to seek justice for Rasheed and advocate for the safety and well-being of individuals in Cebu City.
Your support, whether through donations or by sharing this fundraiser, will be a testament to Rasheed's enduring spirit and a step towards achieving justice. Let's stand together to honor Rasheed's memory and ensure that his legacy promotes a world where everyone can live without fear of discrimination or violence. ️️
Thank you for being a part of this journey toward justice and healing.
