Justice thru Assistance for White Center Mom

In the fall of 2018, our friend was severely sexually assaulted in her own home. Over the last 9 months, she has been slowly putting the pieces of her life back together – all while working, raising her 3-year-old child, and seeking counseling for the emotional trauma stemming from her attack.

After 9 short months, our friend was attacked again – by the SAME ATTACKER. She had been working since the initial attack, but lost many work hours due to trauma-based PTSD and anxiety caused by the first attack. And then the second attack happened.

One can only imagine how horrific it would be to be attacked in your own home – and then to be attacked by that same attacker a second time. He knows where she lives. His name is Francisco Carranza-Ramirez, and he’s still out there as law enforcement have not yet apprehended him.

She has endured unspeakable acts and the ensuing trauma – and put simply, she needs help.

She needs help paying her rent, utilities, childcare, and living expenses. She also needs help paying for temporary housing while Francisco Carranza-Ramirez remains at large. In addition to the two attacks, she also has a physical disability that makes finding standard temporary housing challenging. Many physical housing modifications that the mother needs to perform her activities of daily living are not available in standard rooms. This complicates the task of finding a safe haven for this brave mother and her son until the attacker is found.

***SO WHO IS OUR FRIEND WHO NEEDS US?***

To start with, she is a mother. She is a devoted, loving, and caring single mother of a gentle and smart 3-year-old child. Anyone will tell you she has a kind and gentle heart. She is a committed member of the local community. She has repeatedly shown generosity to local families and fellow mothers in need. She has an amazing heart.

Most importantly, our friend is in desperate need of our help to rise above this unbelievable series of difficult and life-altering events. She is like any of us, trying to do the best she can. She now faces the reality of coping with her physical disability, trauma recovery (for the two attacks), as well as financial responsibilities while being a primary caregiver to her young child.

***WHAT HAPPENED?***

While the horrible details have to be kept private due to safety and privacy reasons, we can share the basics of the story. The attacker violated his Sexual Assault Protection Order by “being within 1,000 feet” of our friend at her place of residence 2 days after being granted a conditional release. He then returned to her residence the next day and violently strangled her and struck her in the head, causing a concussion and seizure. All of this happened in front of her 3-year-old child.

As you can imagine, our friend has been under unimaginable stress and anxiety. In addition to the attacks mentioned above, she was also recently laid off from her job. She was laid off after months of co-managing her anxiety/PTSD due to the initial trauma of the first sexual attack along with working full time and being a primary caregiver for her son.

She pleaded to the court system to extend her attacker’s prison sentence (because she was in fear for her life if he was released early and without community supervision). Her plea was denied. She now faces a difficult road ahead of her as she navigates a recent lay off from the job she loved, a repeat attack by a violent sexual offender, as well as needing to be rehomed while her attacker is at large.

Despite the overwhelming emotional battles ahead, she still has to pick up the pieces of her life and continue on with some sense of normalcy. One does not stop being a mother and primary care giver of a 3-year-old after their world is turned upside down by a violent attacker. Our friend needs our help. She needs her village to stand behind her and her 3-year-old child and help them as she recovers from this horrific dual assault.

***HOW CAN YOU HELP?***

Many in the community have stepped up to help and the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming and such a comfort at this incredibly difficult time for our friend and her child. She needs our continued support now more than ever.

This campaign seeks an initial goal of $39K to assist the mother and son with the following expenses:

Temporary Housing for 30 or more Days: $4800
Childcare for 3 months: $5400
Living Expenses for 3 months: $7800
Service Therapy Dog trained for PTSD/Anxiety: $15,000
Relocation Expenses: $6,000

If we are fortunate enough to exceed the fundraiser goal, any funds in excess will be put toward therapy and healing for the mother emotionally and physically.
