Justice requires our commitment to serving it

Our friend Ivory is in dire need of our help. Ivory is a disabled, single mother of color who is experiencing stalking, harassment, and bullying from her former partner.

In December of 2022, Ivory was victimized publicly her partner in front of multiple witnesses. These witnesses called the police and gave statements to them that night and later they gave their statements to prosecutors. However, he had fled on foot abandoning the scene of the crime before police arrived. Despite several people testifying on the events, her abuser, due to his status as a rich, white physician, was acquitted at trial. The judge did state on the record that she believed he committed the crime. In line with this she conceded that he was a danger to Ivory and issued an order of protection for her. However, he violated that order multiple times. He even went so far as to hire a private investigator to follow her anytime she left her home. While stalking her, he vandalized lighting in front of her home, place gps location devices on her vehicle, and placed cameras around her home. And even when presented with evidence and witness testimony of him violating the protection order, his friend the magistrate dismissed it.

He has now begun to bully her in an attempt to force her to come back to him. Ivory and he own two assets together: a car and a home. He has threatened to sue her and provide no restitution on these properties despite her having paid the closing costs on the home and used her prior vehicle as the trade in for the one he coerced her into buying. He is using financial abuse to force her to either crawl back or risk losing custody of her daughter due to her losing transportation.

Since Ivory is disabled and a single mother, she is unable to fight him on her on. She needs help raising money to cover the expenses of fighting this in court. She wants to be free of him but needs the money to put the protection order back in place as well as recoup the money spent on the closing costs and the trade in amount of her prior vehicle.

Since justice turned a blind eye to her plight and the law refuses to protect her, the community is being called upon to do so. We are asking that those who are able to do so to please donate and help her. The goal is to raise enough money to replace her vehicle and to cover court costs to re-establish the protection order. Since Legal Aid will not cover court cases involving property disputes, she has no one else to turn to.

Let’s rally to defend a disabled woman of color from a domestic abuser!
