Aerial Sports started with 2 adult classes and a simple dream: create a place where adults could play, move, and be themselves. Last year, it turned 10. It now runs 40 classes a week, with over 200 young aerialists and around 100 adults calling it home.
Cher never planned any of this.
She's originally from Los Angeles, where she got on her first trapeze 30 years ago and fell in love. She spent 15 years performing professionally across California as a singer, dancer, acrobat, and stunt performer. When she moved to Australia, she stumbled upon a small aerial studio just 5 minutes from her home and the rest, as they say, was history. She has since immersed herself in the aerial world, studying with world-class aerialists including performers from Cirque du Soleil. Her dream was always to perform, not to run a business. But life had other plans, and Aerial Sports was born.
What happened next surprised even her. She discovered a joy in teaching she never knew she had — watching students discover what their body is capable of, holding space for people to grow and laugh and surprise themselves. A business she never sought became a community she couldn't imagine living without. She has poured her heart and soul into every corner of it — developing a progressive curriculum, running in-house teacher trainings, creating a scholarship program for teens, and putting on killer yearly showcases that celebrate students and teachers alike.
This studio has been her anchor through the hardest years of her life. She came to work crying. She taught. She left crying. The studio, and her students, kept her standing, and no one knew the wiser.
After an incredibly hard few years, personally and professionally, Cher has fought to keep the studio standing. Now, with a shared space that has run its course & rent that has been doubled without legal basis, she is out of options. The studio either has to move or close! This is not a choice. It is a crisis.
She’s built a thriving, established business with a full timetable and a waitlist of students wanting to join. The challenge here isn't sustainability, it's the sudden, unexpected cost of being forced to relocate or close. She now needs the resources to secure a safe and successful future for the studio and its community. Without this support, Aerial Sports—the place where hundreds of students find strength, joy, and self-expression—risks closing its doors.
This is our home. Please help us keep it. Every contribution, from anywhere in the world, keeps this community flying.
