Justice for Wellington: Fighting Against Unfair Charges

Anyone that has ever spent more than five minutes with Wellington is sure to figure out his life’s passion. Hunting and fishing have run through his veins since he could walk, maybe longer. As any Maine sportsman knows, the ultimate prize is to complete the Grand Slam. This was going to be Wellington’s year to make it happen. He finally harvested his FIRST bear this year and proudly dropped it off for processing. Who knew a simple knock on the door four days later would bring such RIDICULOUS and TOTALLY DISGUSTING unfounded results?

On the other side of that simple knock was a fresh Maine Game Warden (Avery Boucher) out to make a name for himself at the expense of OUR son!! Wellington, thinking they were just checking in on tagged bears, joyfully told them about his hunt and showed them pics…. THEN Boucher decided to start questioning him and requested to be taken to the bait/harvest site. Apparently, Boucher had already been to Wellington’s bait site and had some concerns… Mineral blocks left months ago, not even placed there by him. Jump ahead 2 hours later and Boucher decided to GIVE WELLINGTON A BREAK with the following 3 citations:

1. Baiting deer (mind you, we are not in deer season; this is bear season/hunting we are talking about) from old mineral blocks.

2. Possession of illegally harvested wildlife (Boucher decided the mineral blocks were there for baiting deer and at the site as bear bait, therefore making his bear bait station illegal and now his bear illegal).

3. Transportation of illegally harvested wildlife (due to the previous 2 citations ).

And to top it all off they SEIZED HIS FIRST BEAR!
