Justice for Tyrell: Fighting Unjust Charges

I have made this GoFundMe at the request of the Spears Family. To know Tyrell is to be loved by Tyrell, even if you just met 5 minutes ago. On November 5th, Tyrell was on the Mankato Veterans Bridge holding a sign that said "Peace and Love", across the street were men holding President Elect Trump flags. At one point, one of the men who were holding a Trump flag crossed the road and was standing in the median, shouting "I don't know what love and peace is", and Tyrell told him to go back to his side of the road. Shortly thereafter, Officer Honetschlager from the MPD showed up and told Tyrell to stay out of the road, which Tyrell then stated that it was not him, but the other men on the bridge. The officer then recognized him and immediately became aggressive, asking for Tyrell's ID. Being Tyrell did not do anything illegal, he refused. At this point, the officer had forced Tyrell into handcuffs, and into the back of the police car. Never reading him his Miranda Rights, nor did he have any reason to arrest him. Shelby and a friend showed up to the bridge, and the MPD told them off and were no help explaining the situation, began running Shelby's plates, and left to bring Ty into the station. After arriving, Ty was held for over 8 hours in a holding cell, completely naked at one point, and being refused his phone call for hours on end. November 6th at 3 pm, 27 hours after being arrested is when he was finally released into Gen Pop. His wrists and hands are swollen, as he begged for the officer to loosen his cuffs which the officer refused to do. November 7th he was able to see a judge and be released for $6,000. This cost, along with future costs of a Civil Rights Lawyer and Criminal Lawyer will add up quickly.

Ty has always given back to his community, he is a devoted father, husband, business owner, and a person who is simply difficult to not love. He prays over strangers, reminds the people he loves that he loves them, and is always looking at the positive sides of life. The family is looking for help to relieve these costs to fight and get these charges dropped.
