Stand with the Rochester 4: They Spoke Out for Justice—Now They Need Us

We are calling on our community to stand behind the Rochester 4—four courageous students who took a stand for justice, only to face severe retaliation from the University of Rochester. They risked everything in their fight for truth, equality, and freedom.

Since their expulsion, they’ve lost critical support, with some forced into homelessness, couch surfing, and facing extreme financial hardship. Their personal information has been maliciously shared online, leaving them vulnerable and unable to secure safe employment. They’re struggling to meet basic needs—rent, bills, groceries—while also figuring out ways to travel back to Rochester for court hearings and meetings with their lawyers.

But the consequences don’t stop there. Three of the four students are in the middle of applying to college. Despite their incredible perseverance, they face roadblocks in securing the resources necessary to complete their applications. Some of them are unable to qualify for application fee waivers and are struggling to afford transcript request payments and other essential costs to ensure they can submit their applications on time. Their future depends on the opportunities that a college education can provide—and we can help make that possible.

No one should lose their home or their future for standing up for what’s right. No one should be penalized for fighting against injustice and oppression.

This fight is bigger than just these four students. It’s about protecting the right to resist complicity in oppression and ensuring that those who speak out are not abandoned. The University of Rochester may have tried to silence them, but we refuse to let them stand alone.

The movement for Palestinian liberation and the fight for justice will not be erased. We stand in solidarity with those who dare to speak truth to power.
