Justice for Surafel: Legal Funds and Awareness Campaign

Hello, my name is Abebaw Bogale, and I am the parent of Surafel, a beloved son, brother, and friend who was tragically taken from us on February 18, 2025. My son’s life was cut short in an unimaginable and devastating way when he was killed by police. Our family is heartbroken, and we are determined to seek justice, accountability, and change in his memory.

Surafel was a 29-year-old African American and graduated from the University of the District of Columbia with a computer science degree. He was a well-respected and regarded young man among his peers and community, and a deeply religious person with a reputation for compassion and empathy towards those he believed were unfairly treated. He had no criminal record nor any tendency to engage in violence. His loss has left a void in our lives that can never be filled, but we are committed to honoring his legacy by fighting for the truth and ensuring that no other family has to endure this pain.

We are launching this GoFundMe to cover the legal costs associated with seeking justice for Surafel. The funds will also support our efforts to raise awareness about police accountability and systemic issues that led to this tragedy. Your contributions will help us:
