Hello, my name is Chrissy, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Stacey Markovitz. Many of you remember her as Stacey Barker. Stacey grew up in an unstable home due to her mother’s struggles with mental illness and brain damage. Despite the hardships, Stacey has always shown strength and resilience.

In August of 2022 , while visiting Texas, Stacey received the heartbreaking news that her mother had passed away.  Grieving and overwhelmed, Stacey and I rushed to the home she was raised in. When  we arrived we found two broken windows and the doors locked and changed. With the help of the neighbor, we were able to gain entrance. 

Right away Stacey noticed something wasn’t right. The house was far too cleaned out and empty, completely unlike  how her mother had ever lived in it . Even more alarming her mother‘s purse, cell phone, and a file box (which Stacey  knows contained important legal documents and her mother‘s personal writings) were missing. 

As we were still trying to make sense of the situation, a police officer arrived and began questioning Stacey. Moments later, a woman abruptly came into the home, shouting that we had no right to be there, kicking Stacey out of her own family home rejecting her with the chance to even mourn or recover anything from her deceased mother. It was then that a grieving Stacey learned the devastating truth—her mother’s house had been unlawfully taken. Her mother had been tricked and manipulated into loosing her home.

That discovery marked the beginning of a long and painful legal battle. Stacey, a single mother facing her own health challenges, has been fighting tirelessly to reclaim her mother’s home and honor her memory. Unfortunately, the opposing party has filed legal motions that have only dragged the case out for three years . She has spent more than $20,000 so far, gathered substantial evidence, and now faces a critical upcoming trial date. Unfortunately, while being on the winning side of the legal laws, legal costs continue to mount, placing an enormous financial strain on her and her family.

Stacey deserves the chance to set things right and reclaim the home that should have never been taken from her mother. We are asking for your support to help cover her ongoing legal expenses.
