Scott Naso’s Fight for Justice for his 4-year-old daughter Laila. Protecting his daughter, exposing abuse, refusing to be silenced.

My name is Kajsa, and Sherry Naso, Scott Naso's wife, was my best friend, my chosen family. We built our lives side by side. I watched her become a wife and then a mother, just as she watched my children grow. Our families were deeply intertwined, and I knew Sherry not only in her happiest moments, but through her hardest ones as well.

In April of 2024, Sherry passed away, leaving behind her husband Scott and their then two-year-old daughter, Laila. Sherry’s breast cancer—once believed to be in remission—had silently metastasized throughout her body. She died suddenly, leaving Scott to raise their young daughter alone while still in shock from unimaginable loss.

Scott Naso is a Rhode Island law-enforcement officer of nearly 20 years, he has been on leave, and is now facing the fight of his life to protect his 4-year-old daughter, Laila.
This legal battle began in the immediate aftermath of Sherry's death. He discovered facts that were horrific and in his duty as a father, he immediately took action to protect his daughter from further harm.

In the weeks that followed Sherry’s death, events unfolded that raised serious concerns for Scott as a father. What should have been a period focused solely on mourning and helping his daughter adjust instead became the beginning of an intense legal fight, one he never anticipated, but cannot abandon.

On the day Sherry died, while friends and family were gathered at Scott’s home, Laila, then 2 years old, was administered a corticosteroid via syringe against her will, by her grandparents, Dr. Jila Khorsand and Dr. Siavash Ghoreishi, without Scott’s knowledge or consent. Laila immediately became ill, vomited, and was visibly distressed. Scott intervened and removed her from the situation. Shockingly, in the following days, both of Sherry’s parents abruptly retired from their medical professions. At this moment, Scott knew something was deeply wrong.

Concerned about what had been done to his daughter, Scott sought outside medical guidance. Through court testimony and prescription records, he later learned that before the age of 3, Laila had been prescribed multiple medications, at a rate Scott says was approximately 15 times the national average, all written by her grandfather, Dr. Ghoreishi.

Scott decided to end all contact between Sherry’s parents and Laila. Since terminating all medical involvement with the grandparents, Laila has been healthy and has required zero prescriptions.

After Scott ended all contact in the summer of 2024, Sherry’s parents filed a lawsuit in Rhode Island family court, seeking court-ordered visitation. Without holding a legally required hearing, a judge ordered visitation. That judge has since retired. Shortly after the court-ordered visits began, Scott, along with Laila’s teachers and school administrators, observed emotional and behavioral regression. When the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families opened an investigation, visitation was paused, and Laila’s well-being improved. Once the investigation concluded, visitation was ordered to resume. Scott refused. He had to protect his child.

Laila has not seen her grandparents since January 2025.
The legal case is now scheduled to resume for a full week in late February, with proceedings expected to continue into March.

As a family friend, I want to help shed light on this massive injustice and ask for support for Scott and Laila. It has been an exhaustive, financially and emotionally draining process that requires ongoing legal representation, court filings, and expert consultation.
Scott has spent all of his savings fighting to protect his daughter. He has been on administrative leave since his wife Sherry's death.

In April 2024, friends organized an emergency GoFundMe to help with Sherry’s medical care, believing she would recover. Those funds ultimately went toward her funeral and estate expenses. No one anticipated what would come next.

I am sharing this because Sherry is no longer here to speak for herself, and because her daughter, Laila, deserves protection, truth, and safety. This GoFundMe exists to help Scott continue fighting for Laila in the aftermath of a loss that never should have unfolded the way it did.

Funds raised will be used exclusively for:
● Ongoing legal representation
● Court and filing expenses
● Expert consultations to protect Laila’s rights and safety

Every contribution—no matter the amount—will help Scott protect Laila , while he continues advocating for his and Sherry's daughter and providing the safe, stable life she deserves. Thank you so much.
