Justice for Shea: A Fight Against Negligence
Donation protected
On 5/5/24 my mom Tonechia Ervin (Shea) asked a staff member at Y Haven (located in Cleveland, Ohio) to call EMS because she couldn’t breathe. EMS was called but hung up on shortly after. My mom was told to go upstairs to get her inhaler. She made it to the laundromat where she asked 2 different staff members to call EMS. She was sweating profusely at that time. The staff members called 911 and sat her in a chair. She then started foaming at the mouth. The staff members are CPR certified but stated that she was too big for them to preform CPR. EMS arrived to the facility but was not given access into the building for 20 minutes. They also had a hard time getting out of the building as well. My mom went without oxygen to the brain for 40-45 minutes.
It has been confirmed that my mom went into cardiac arrest due to a blockage. If CPR was performed within the first 3-4 minutes she would still be here. If EMS had access to the building upon arrival she would still be here.
Y Haven neglected and failed my mother. They need to be held responsible for her death. Her care team said they will get on the stand if they need to in honor of my mother.
My goal is to get her story out there so a lot of people lives can be saved. There is no telling how many people have also passed away because of them. There is no telling how many lives are currently at risk.
Due to their negligence and abuse we have to plan a memorial for her. She did not have any insurance so we are looking to accept any donation we can to give her a nice service.
Thank you and please share to get her story out.
