Justice for Sgt Chase Edwards
Donation protected
Sgt. Chase B. Edwards was a weapon expert in a combat infantry unit medically discharged with injuries sustained in the line of duty in the U.S. Army serving 8 years. After medically retiring, he has been living in Missouri. His mother's home was burned down on May 23, 2022. While he was mowing the property on August 31, the neighbors, who is suspected to be involved, trespassed on to the property and fired a weapon.
Chase told them to leave the property. After they refused to leave, his mother called the police. They arrived and arrested both Chase and his mother. They let the neighbors return home. The police allege based on the neighbors’ account that Chase fired his weapon as a warning. The neighbors, who are local to the small town, denied having shot at Chase and his mother. The police released Chase’s mother the next morning, but refused to release Chase.
His bond hearing was denied. His mother has since hired a lawyer from St Louis to help assist with the case, but due to the distance and his experience with the Reynolds County Justice department, his starting costs are $20,000. If the case drags out, he has stated it will likely reach $50,000. The department has previously refused the video evidence from the cameras on the property, which Chase's mother had assumed would exonerate him of any wrong-doing. Unfortunately, they require a lawyer that is willing to be aggressive and persistent.
Chase's treatment inside the Reynolds County Jail has been unfair and cruel. He has been prodded by the police to make mistakes so they can charge him instead of holding an innocent man. Chase is medically discharged and at risk of losing his VA benefits if held much longer. He deserves a fair trial. We ask for any donation to help his mother pay for the lawyer. She has already used the insurance payout from her vehicle being burned down to pay the initial funds for the lawyer. She currently has no vehicle, no home, and putting everything she can to help get her son out.
Donations will only be used to fund Chase's defense.
