About Roscoe:

Roscoe was the sweetest, most patient cat I've ever known. Full of personality and affection, Roscoe was a friend to all and stole my heart when he grabbed and bit my finger through the cage at the East Valley Animal Shelter in July of 2010.

Roscoe's First Night Home

Raised alongside my terrier, Amelia, he grew up with the confidence and curiousity of an extrovert, very much like a puppy.

Very chatty and personable, you may know him from TikTok - @argumentswithmycat - or the TV show "My Cat From Hell", where, spoiler alert, the cat was not the problem.

He was never mean or scared. A friend to all animals and humans alike. He never hissed. When his neighbors would call him, he'd come running, whether it be to the window for a "quick hello", to the neighbor's door from his own for a "quick visit" or down the driveway on his leash for a "quick hug".

He was my velcro pet. My soul kitty.

And everyone's favorite nosy neighbor.

Roscoe became bonded with not only me, as his mother, but Tiger Lilly as his other half. They connected immediately after I brought her into the household. After Amelia died, he was lonesome for companionship. Such a social soul. And Tiger Lilly was his purrfect match.

He enjoyed walks on his leash, rides in his stroller or the car, cuddles with his mom, lullabies, all the treats, and chasing a feather cat teaser.

A total ham. He never shied away from a photo op.

November and December 2024

In November of 2024, I brought Roscoe to Encino Pet Hospital and Emergency for a standard check-up, as I found their rates affordable. From that first visit, I should have trusted my gut that something wasn't right. By December 20th, he was dead.

The longer version of this story will be available in videos below.

I had concerns from the beginning, regarding medication, that were dismissed, which only grew and became worse. But I trusted the professionals, which is my biggest regret. I should have trusted my mother's instinct.

Roscoe's Last Day of Life

That day my heart shattered and will never fully heal.

Roscoe's Legacy

I have spent over $30,000 on medical and legal fees, trying to gain some kind of accountability and closure from Roscoe's death. I am a reasonable person. I understand animals age, get sick, and die. That's part of life.

But the circumstances in which he became sick and ultimately passed away were, in my opinion, exacerbated by negligence, medical mismanagement, and misrepresentation of Roscoe's case by Encino Pet Hospital and Emergency's doctors and staff.

There are handfuls of brokenhearted pet parents with similar stories surrounding this institution. I will include images in the updates, and I encourage you to read through their 1-star reviews on Yelp and Google. You decide for yourself.

We have given Encino every opportunity to take accountability, and they refuse, so I am taking this public.

I have consulted with other grieving pet parents and am doing this for them as well. We all want some kind of accountability, even if it's just raising attention and awareness around this facility so that no one else goes through what we did.

I intend to use any donations to fight for justice for Roscoe through my counsel, Ryther Law Group.

Any funds I cannot or choose not to use will go toward any other parents who need them to seek justice or to Roscoe's Rescues to help other animals. Ryther works with non-profits to help animals seek justice, and their legal focus is animal law and animal rights.

This entire ordeal has ignited a fire within me. I've spent the past year helping rescue animals. I hope to turn Roscoe's Rescues into a formal non-profit and sanctuary one day in the future.
