Justice for RaNiyah: End Child Trafficking

In August 2017, Rodney and his wife Taniyah took their daughter RaNiyah to the ER when she was 11 weeks old. That was the third time she was hospitalized in her 11 weeks of life. A fractured femur and numerous other unexplained fractures were found. The hospital reported them for child abuse. She was removed from the parents' care and placed with strangers, pending a child abuse investigation. Unbeknownst to the parents, the board member (and his wife) and other state actors within the DCF & foster agency in charge of investigating child abuse were running a child trafficking ring, stealing children and selling them to people in the market to adopt. RaNiyah was a victim of this.

RaNiyah’s doctor suspected she had a brittle bone disease, possibly Osteogenesis Imperfecta. She was sent for genetic testing. The test confirmed she had a brittle bone disease, a variant form of Osteogenesis Imperfecta. The foster mother, board member, and all other state actors concealed the genetic test results, paid off the defense attorney, and took Rodney and Taniyah through a termination of parental rights trial. The parents' parental rights were terminated for child abuse. The defense attorney advised them not to appeal. He threatened that if they did appeal, DCF would come and remove their other child, who at the time was in the care and custody of the paternal grandparents. Subsequently, the paternal grandparents were also threatened, leveraging the grandson they had in their custody, that if they continued to try to take custody of their granddaughter, they would remove the sibling from them.

Five law firms and seven lawsuits later, we obtained all the evidence. We are fighting in court to vacate the illegal adoption and restore the parents' parental rights.

Through this fight, we have learned of many other families experiencing the same nightmare and have commenced helping them as well.
