Justice For Quntos and Layla

In 1995, Quntos and Layla were just teenagers, based in Shreveport, Louisiana, when they were arrested and sentenced to life at hard labor without the possibility of parole. This was for a crime where no one was physically harmed, the victim and the vehicle were returned safely, and a mere $300 dollars was stolen.

Since 2018, Georgetown’s Making an Exoneree has brought together undergraduate students from different schools across the country to reinvestigate wrongful conviction cases. In January 2025, Making An Exoneree law students collaborated with students at the University of California, Santa Cruz to create a short documentary, "How Long Is Long Enough", regarding the injustice behind Quntos and Layla’s case. "How Long Is Long Enough" was released on the Making An Exoneree YouTube channel in June, 2025. Now alumni, the former students continue to advocate for Quntos and Layla’s freedom through social media platforms, fundraising events, and film screenings.

They continue to fight for their freedom against their unjust sentence. Quntos and Layla are currently seeking funding for legal representation and further advocacy.
