Stand with Quinn Haberl: A Blind Activist Dragged by Federal Agents — Help Cover His Legal & Recovery Costs
Hello friends, allies, and supporters —
My name is Steven (karma trawler), and I’m writing today on behalf of Quinn Haberl, a courageous and dedicated activist who has risked much to stand up for justice and civil rights. As many have seen in the recent article by KGW, Quinn, who is blind, was handcuffed and dragged twice by federal agents at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field facility in Portland.
Why his story matters
Quinn has been participating in peaceful protest actions — using his voice and presence to defend rights and advocate for those whose voices are often ignored. However, when federal agents dragged him despite his disability, it became a stark illustration of the risks faced by people who step up to protest, particularly the vulnerable among us. The article states that both incidents were captured on video.
Beyond the violation of civil liberties, this incident raises questions about how disabled protesters are treated and the accountability of federal law-enforcement agencies when dealing with non-violent demonstrations.
What we’re raising money for
We’re launching this fundraiser to support Quinn in three critical ways:
1. Legal support — To engage an attorney, manage potential claims or defenses, and ensure Quinn’s rights are fully represented.
2. Medical or recovery costs — Being dragged and handcuffed while blind has both physical and psychological costs. Quinn may need care, therapy, and time off from his normal work/activism to recover.
3. Activism continuity — Quinn’s voice matters. By helping him recover and move forward, we’re also helping ensure that activism, accountability, and justice don’t get silenced by fear or financial burdens.
How your donation helps
• A donation of any size helps cover attorney consultations and legal fees.
• It helps Quinn manage his medical or health-related expenses after this traumatic incident.
• It allows Quinn to continue his work without having to choose between activism and survival.
Why we’re asking you
Because Quinn is part of our community, and when one of us is harmed for standing up, it affects us all. This is not just Quinn’s fight — it’s a fight for disability rights, protest rights, federal accountability, and civil liberties. By contributing, you become part of a collective effort to say: “Yes — when someone is harmed for speaking out, we will not abandon them.”
Please help by:
• Donating whatever you can — even small amounts add up.
• Sharing this campaign link on social media, with your friends, in your community. Awareness is power.
• Sending encouragement — A quick message or share helps Quinn know he’s not alone in this.
Thank you
From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for reading, for considering, for supporting. Quinn has shown bravery by continuing to stand in the face of injustice despite being blind and despite the risks. Let’s show up for him now.
With solidarity and gratitude,
