Why I'm Raising Funds
I am one of many who have been harmed by a psychiatric misdiagnosis and the ill effects of psychiatric medications. I am suing my former psychiatrist for the harm that his carelessness caused me.
Like most, I couldn’t find an attorney to take my case because the negative feelings about people who have received psychiatric diagnoses are so great that lawyers are reluctant to take our cases.
Unlike most, I am a licensed attorney and I have the skills to try this case successfully. What I lack is the money - and so I am seeking your help to raise the funds I need to take this case to trial.
I don’t want to settle and have to sign a confidentiality agreement. That will just allow this problem to stay hidden in the shadows, and allow what happened to me to happen to others .
I want to bring this problem into the light of day and raise awareness through my trial about the catastrophic harm caused by psychiatric over-diagnosis and over-prescription. I want to hold psychiatrists accountable and let the public know that it can be done. I want to change the belief of attorneys that cases like mine are unwinnable and not worth taking.
And to do all of that, I need your help.

How the Money Will Be Used
The money raised will go towards expert witness fees, which are running me about $1,000 an hour; expert witness deposition costs; subpoena fees; witness travel costs; and the cost to create trial exhibits.

When the Money Is Needed
My case is scheduled for trial on June 25, 2018 in San Francisco Superior Court. I need the funds before trial begins and during trial. I expect the trial to take two to three weeks.

My Background
I'm an experienced trial lawyer, a graduate of Berkeley Law School and Harvard Business School. I'm licensed to practice law in New York, California and Massachusetts. I'm a former director of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and I was voted by my peers as a Top Attorney in California in 2007.

Discrimination against People Harmed by Psychiatry
Representing myself was not my first choice. However, as I was looking for an attorney, I learned that attorneys don't want to represent people with psychiatric injuries, a reprehensible form of discrimination.

From Tragedy to Triumph
I've vowed to turn my personal tragedy into something positive and have committed the rest of my life to working to end psychiatric oppression and discrimination.

Currently, I am a consultant with Vermont Psychiatric Survivors and formerly served three years as the organization’s Executive Director. Vermont Psychiatric Survivors is a statewide, civil rights advocacy organization whose mission is to end psychiatric coercion, oppression and discrimination.
What More You Can Do to Help
Please attend all or part of the trial in San Francisco. I'll post updates here about the trial schedule.

With Gratitude
I am grateful for any support of my efforts to increase awareness of psychiatric over-diagnosis and over-prescription and hold psychiatrists accountable to insure a safer and more just society.

Please share this campaign with your friends, family, allies and co-workers.
