Hello,
In November of 2023, our mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. At that time, we didn’t yet know that she was in the advanced stages—Stage 4—and would only have a year to live.
Our mom was a fighter—strong-willed and stubborn. But she also had a soft, pink, and feminine side. Though it was difficult for her to be vulnerable with others, she still experienced heartache, fear, and love. Our mom was thoughtful, generous, and knew how to party like a rock star.
Throughout her 35 years of employment, our mother always maintained a 401k and life insurance policy, consistently listing her three children as beneficiaries.
Sadly, we learned just a week before Christmas that her husband of only five months had changed the beneficiaries to include only himself. We discovered that these changes were made when our mother was in the hospital—non-verbal, on Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), and in the final stages of sepsis due to cancer complications.
The policy revealed that the beneficiary changes were made in Torrance, CA, while our mother was in a hospital in Beverly Hills—Cedars Sinai. Forensic evidence confirms this.
Unfortunately, in order to fight this, we need to continue paying for attorney fees. Our desire to pursue this fight has nothing to do with financial compensation—it is about seeking justice, doing what is right, and honoring our mother’s wishes. It has been incredibly hard to grieve, knowing that someone who we trusted and thought loved our mom has committed the ultimate betrayal—not only to his wife, but to her children as well.
We have currently paid $11,000.00 and need an additional $5000 for future cost. I'm the last person who wants to ask for help; it is extremely difficult for me to do so. My younger brother just had his third baby, and my older brother was recently let go from his job in January. Although my oldest brother just started a new position at the beginning of March, he is still catching up. I currently work two jobs, and while I’m doing my best, I can only cover so much. Any help would be deeply appreciated, though I completely understand if it’s not possible.
