Justice For Our 7 Year Old Granddaughter

Hi, My name is Melissa Sterling but our Grandchildren call me Mimi and my husband Papa. We are very dedicated and loving Grandparents that would do anything for our family. We are asking for your help with obtaining Legal Services for our Grandchild.

One of our Grandkids is in desperate need of your help. I am not going to give her name or show you a picture of her face because she is only 7 years old and may not want the entire world to know HER story. What happened to her is horrific and it is up to her when she is old enough to tell it. Her mother and what I would call her real daddy, which is her stepdad, and a close family unit know what has happened and we feel comfortable enough to tell her story for her, anonymously to get her help. I am going to use the initial of her first name in this story.

P. was 5 when the truth came out. Her Biological father dropped her off at her mom's house on New Year's Eve. It was P's first big sleepover with a friend. Mom had been noticing some questionable behaviors in P but she would never have imagined that her child was being manipulated and abused.

Mom and Dad had some friends over during the sleepover and the kids were in P's room playing. Dad went upstairs to check on the kids and to his horror found P acting out what had been happening to her at her biological dad's house on her friend. When asked where she learned this behavior at first, she would not tell Mom and Dad. She had been threatened that if she told "Daddy would go to jail". Eventually, the truth came out with a very detailed story of what he was doing to her. Again, I am not going into detail with her story but she was sexually molested and had been groomed for a long time.

After finding this out, Mom did everything right. She immediately contacted the police. The police suggested not changing her clothes, don't bath her, take her as she is straight to Children's Hospital to have a rape kit. Her coming out with the molestation was one nightmare. Dealing with the Justice system and all involved has been another complete nightmare.

Her mother and I were in the room during the hours-long interrogation at the hospital, the rape kit, which we know had to happen, was a whole nother violation of P. It was devastating to her and her mother and me to watch. At the hospital, she disclosed everything to the Social Worker and was found to have bruises around her private parts. The evidence is located in the medical records.

Again, Mom did everything right. She hired an Attorney, she cooperated and still to this day cooperates with the State, Prosecuting Attorney, CPS and anyone else that is involved. P has been in Therapy weekly for 2 years where she suffers from a host of different mental conditions now including Trauma induced Anxiety and many others. P suffers daily and will continue to suffer from this for the rest of her life. Her abuser is not going to be charged.

See, they found DNA at the hospital IN her private area. Fluid DNA was inside of her. We have waited over a year for the results and it came today. It was a match to her molester, however, the State is NOT going to press charges. According to the State, just not enough evidence, it could be explainable?? Maybe he helped her go to the bathroom, maybe he got it on her while doing laundry.

Tell me how his Fluid DNA ends up inside her privates. This makes no sense whatsoever and since the minute the State took the case, they have let the abuser get away with everything. He now has another child that he could abuse. They let him live with this child. In his mind he has done nothing wrong and even though the DNA was a match, he isn't being charged. He takes this as he has done nothing wrong.

We are now in a fight to keep him away from P. We are asking for your help. We need to raise money to hire a good Family Law Attorney. One that will fight to take parental rights away from the abuser. In our State, the laws do not protect the child. They protect the Abuser and we need help desperately.

We are trying to raise funds for an Attorney for P. This will be a long and expensive journey for her and her family.
