Justice for Minnie and Gypsy
Hi! My name is Bobbie and I’m reaching out for assistance covering legal fees in the violent attack and killing of our family pets that occurred in our home. Our neighbors have 5 very aggressive dogs that have gotten loose countless times, police have been called, multiple complaints reported to the city by myself and several neighbors for these dogs running loose and terrorizing our neighborhood. Two weeks ago, 3 of their pitbulls were jumping, biting, and tearing at my fence to get in where my 4 dogs and 2 children were. They chased my 10 yo daughter through my front yard barking at her aggressively while the owner stood in his yard watching and never came out to help catch his dogs. I reported this incident with pics of them at my fence and video of them chasing my daughter and jumping in her. That file is still open, as is the multiple other reports made by my neighbors.
on 7/28, my family and I were away from home celebrating my daughters birthday when I received a notification that someone was at my door. I answered the ring and it was the owner of the dogs telling me their dogs had gotten out again and were in my backyard and they could hear dogs fighting inside my house. I opened my indoor security camera and saw my Yorkie and my Chiweenie laying on the back of my couch, and then 2 large pitbulls enter my living room. They climbed into my couch, barking at my little dogs and when my yorkie tried to run away, they attacked her. The attack was recorded on my security camera and lasted for about 3 minutes and they tore her apart. When they were done with her, they attacked my chiweenie who was found outside tore up, but barely alive. When they finished with her, they went back inside for the cats, but fortunately the cats hid and were found completely unharmed. I called the police as soon as I saw the dogs on camera not yet knowing the extent of what happened. The police got their quickly but since I was 30 minutes away and my house locked up, they couldn’t enter. They looked over my gate into my backyard and saw Gypsy lying in the mud and very bad shape. One of the pits was in my backyard with my dogs blood dripping from its mouth. As soon as I got home, I ran to the front door and unlocked it. I opened it to see blood covering the floor from the door all the way into my living room and kitchen. I stepped inside and saw my yorkie. She was dead and torn apart. I ran outside where the police and my neighbors were and said my dog inside is dead and asked where my other one was. They said she’s in the backyard. She has been laying there for almost an hour from the time of the attack. When I got her I immediately rushed to the emergency vet in Collinsville. She was in critical condition. She has open gashes all over her head, face, and neck. She had lost a ton of blood. She was hypothermic, hypovolemic, and her trachea was crushed. The soft tissue swelling was making it worse and she could no longer breath on her own. I had to make the tough decision to end her suffering. My family tragically lost 2 of our furbabies that night. Those dogs somehow found a way into my privacy fence, they entered into my home through my doggy door, then brutally attacked and killed our family pets. They then explored my entire house tracking blood in every room, on my living room furniture, on my bed, even my kitchen counters.
I had to go home the following day to pack things for my kids and dogs to stay with their dad and while there I wanted to inspect my fence to see how they got in and also try to find Gypsy’s collar that had been ripped off of her. While searching my backyard, those dogs were in their yard barking loudly. It made me sick. The owners were present and on scene through it all and have still yet to offer even an apology. All 5 of their dogs are still in their custody and they have made no attempt to repair their fence where these dogs keep getting out. Animal control has not come to pick up any of those dogs. My home is no longer safe for my children or our 2 remaining pets.
I have spoken to an attorney. The cost will be great, but at least my neighborhood, my home, my children, and it remaining pets will be safe. Please! If you can help, anything is much appreciated!
