Justice for Mahad
Here in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a young Somali man named Mahad is having his life torn apart by a system that was supposed to protect him. Mahad just turned 20 years old. His father passed away when he was only two years old, and Mahad has been working to help provide for his single mother. He is an immigrant and a United States citizen, trying to build a future for himself and his family.
Mahad was pursued and confronted by three grown men in three separate vehicles—two motorcycles and a car. According to available evidence and public records, two of the individuals had suspended driver’s licenses, and the third did not have a valid motorcycle license. They were illegally riding side-by-side in the same lane, traveling below the posted speed limit, and actively preventing Mahad from safely passing.
Video evidence shows the three individuals chasing Mahad over a distance, escalating the situation rather than disengaging. The video also shows first physical contact being made when they kicked his vehicle, further intensifying the threat.
Public records show that two of the individuals involved have extensive criminal histories—one with over 14 prior convictions and another with over 5 prior convictions. Mahad, by contrast, has no prior convictions and no history of violence.
Out of fear for his life, Mahad attempted to escape the situation. What followed was not aggression—it was panic and self-preservation.
Despite this, the same individuals who initiated the confrontation were the ones who contacted law enforcement. Portions of the video presented were edited and cut, removing critical context and investigative moments that show how the incident began and escalated.
Even with evidence showing pursuit, intimidation, illegal driving behavior, video of chasing, and first physical contact by the other parties, Mahad has been found guilty and taken into custody. A young man with no prior convictions, no history of violence, and his entire future ahead of him is being punished—not for wrongdoing, but for surviving a dangerous situation.
This is not justice.
This is a failure of the system.
Mahad deserves to be treated with fairness, dignity, and humanity.
We are demanding justice for Mahad.
His story matters.
His life matters.
حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل
Please make dua for this family. Allah SWT is the most just.
