My name is Shawna Bowman and the Tiptons are my family. In 2015, our family and the country watched their whole world crumble as they lost their sweet Logan in a way no one should ever lose their loved one. The justice that followed was not justice at all and further victimized the Tipton family as Logan's murderer, after only 10 years, has been released from prison because he was deemed insane at the time of Logan's death.
In December 2015, the small town of Versailles, Kentucky, was forever changed. Six-year-old Logan Tipton was brutally stabbed to death in his own home by a stranger, Ronald Exantus, a dialysis nurse who traveled from Indianapolis that night and also stabbed Logan’s father and two sisters.
The tragedy shattered the Tipton family and shook an entire community. In 2018, a jury found Exantus guilty but mentally ill for attacking Logan’s family—but not guilty by reason of insanity for Logan’s murder. He was sentenced to 20 years for the assaults but was eligible for parole after only a few years due to time served.
Despite repeated denials, in October 2025, Ronald Exantus was released from custody and is now on supervised release. Logan’s family, still grieving the loss of their beloved son and brother, is reliving their worst nightmare—watching the man responsible for his death walk free.
Now, the Tipton family, together with Kentucky Representative Jason Nemes, is determined to make sure no other family suffers like this again. They are working to pass “Logan’s Law” — a law that would ensure anyone who kills and is found not guilty by reason of insanity will spend the rest of their life in a secure mental institution, not be released back into society.
This law is about protecting victims, families, and communities — ensuring that justice doesn’t end when the sentence does.

Why We’re Asking for Help
The Tipton family is launching this campaign to raise funds for:
• Legal fees and legislative support
• Travel expenses related to passing the bill
• Awareness efforts to educate and advocate for Logan’s Law
• Administrative costs associated with pushing the bill forward
Every donation helps us move closer to justice — not just for Logan, but for every future victim who deserves lasting protection.
