Justice for Liam: End School Bullying Now

Donation protected
Hi Everyone:
Due to the overwhelming and deeply concerning circumstances Liam has endured at Angeline Academy of Innovation, we now find it necessary to retain legal counsel. The ACLU, while typically a powerful ally, is currently backed up, and this case requires immediate attention from attorneys who specialize not only in gender discrimination, gender bias, harassment, and bullying, but also in ensuring that Liam’s IEP and educational accommodations are upheld in compliance with the law.

As a mother, watching my son, Liam, endure relentless bullying and
discrimination at Angeline Academy of Innovation has been heart-wrenching.
Since 2023, he has been subjected to cruel torment, not only from students but
from the very staff meant to protect and nurture him. The students have called
him vile names like "faggot," "pussy boy," and have told him to "cut it off,"
mocking his identity and pushing him to the edge by suggesting he should
end his life.
What is even more devastating is that this torment has been met with
indifference or outright participation from the staff. Assistant principals like
Jackie Choo and Cameron Cashman have done nothing to address the
harassment. Instead, they allow it to fester. Teachers such as Mr. Kelly, Mrs.
Salmon, and Mr. Disantas consistently reprimand Liam, giving him referrals and
lunch detentions for minor infractions, while the students bullying him face no
consequences.
Mr. Disantas, in particular, has gone beyond neglect and actively humiliates my
son in class, referring to him as "she" and "shemale." Liam is forced to correct
him every day, enduring this public degradation repeatedly. Eric Kelly
disrespected not just Liam but also me, his mother, by falsifying information on
a referral and then, when confronted during a behavior meeting, became
hostile and screamed at me.
Jackie Choo has even gone so far as to segregate my son and other LGBTQ
students, forcing them to sit separately, as if they are somehow different or less
than the other students. It is appalling that, when Liam was jumped by other
students, no staff member intervened. When I asked the SRO officer, Brantly, if
he had been informed of the incident, he told me that Jackie Choo never even
notified him.
When I attempted to discuss Liam’s accommodations, disabilities, and
diagnosis with Cameron Cashman, I was met with blatant disregard. Over the
phone, he told me he didn’t care and then hung up on me. In shock, I went to
the school to address this in person. With Mrs. Bennett present, Cameron
Cashman became hostile and repeated that he didn’t care about my son’s
diagnosis and that he would end this meeting to as he had just done
referencing our phone conversation. He then ended the meeting abruptly, just
as he had hung up the phone on me. It was clear that Liam’s needs were being
completely ignored, adding to the growing list of injustices he faces at
Angeline.
I have filed five criminal complaints against the staff at Angeline because my
son’s safety and well-being are at stake. It is unbearable to think that those
entrusted with his education and care are the very ones complicit in his
torment. I am disgusted and heartbroken that my voice is being silenced while
my child’s life is being jeopardized.
