JUSTICE FOR KRYSTAL AISEN PERKINSON
Help Our Family Seek Answers, Accountability, and Justice

This is Krystal Aisen Perkinson.

Krystal was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend whose beautiful smile could light up any room. She had a kind heart, loved helping others, and was filled with excitement as she looked forward to becoming a mother.

Instead, our family's lives changed forever.

Today, Serenity will know her mother's love through the stories we tell, the memories we cherish, and our unwavering commitment to seeking the truth about what happened to Krystal.

On April 15, 2025, while 35 weeks and 2 days pregnant, Krystal went to the Emergency Department at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center experiencing abdominal pain. After evaluating her, doctors determined on April 16, 2025, that she needed an emergency Cesarean section.

During the delivery, Krystal suffered a catastrophic Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE), a rare and life-threatening obstetrical emergency. She also suffered a stroke and went into cardiac arrest three separate times. Although her heartbeat was restored each time, the prolonged loss of oxygen caused a devastating brain injury that forever changed her life.

Krystal could no longer walk, speak, eat, or care for herself.

Yet despite her physical limitations, she remained aware of what was happening around her. She recognized her loved ones, responded in the ways she was able, and we never stopped believing she knew she was loved.

What should have been one of the happiest days of her life became the beginning of a heartbreaking 14-month fight for survival.

During those months, Krystal endured dialysis, blood transfusions, infections, painful pressure wounds, a feeding tube, a tracheostomy, and complete dependence on others for every aspect of her care. Through it all, our family stood by her side with love, hope, prayers, and unwavering advocacy.

Eventually, Krystal was transferred to Pacific Care Nursing Center, where she relied entirely on staff for her safety and daily care.

Our family never stopped fighting for her.

We visited often.

We showed up unannounced.

We asked questions.

We advocated for her.

We trusted that she would receive the care and protection she needed.

Then, on June 24, 2026, everything changed.

Krystal was found unresponsive after her tracheostomy tube became dislodged. Because she had no mobility and could not remove the tube herself, our family has serious questions about how this happened, how long she may have been without a secure airway, and whether appropriate monitoring and safety precautions were in place.

She suffered another severe loss of oxygen and was rushed to the hospital. Despite every effort by the medical team, Krystal passed away on July 5, 2026, just five days after celebrating her 40th birthday.

She left behind her precious daughter, Serenity, who will now grow up without the love, guidance, and embrace of her mother.

WHY WE ARE ASKING FOR HELP

Our family has spent months gathering thousands of pages of medical records, researching what happened, consulting with attorneys, and searching for answers.

We are seeking experienced legal representation and independent medical experts to thoroughly investigate the care Krystal received at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Pacific Care Nursing Center.

These cases are extremely expensive. One attorney has already advised us that the retainer for the Harbor-UCLA case alone would be $20,000 to $25,000. Additional costs include physician and nursing experts, forensic specialists, medical record reviews, court filing fees, depositions, litigation expenses, and, if recommended by legal counsel or medical experts, an independent forensic autopsy.

Your donation may help cover:

• Attorney retainers

• Independent physician and nursing expert reviews

• Medical record retrieval and analysis

• Court filing fees

• Depositions and transcript costs

• Forensic consultations

• An independent forensic autopsy, if recommended

• Other litigation expenses necessary to fully investigate Krystal's care

We are not asking anyone to determine who is at fault.

We are asking for your help so our family has the opportunity to fully investigate what happened to Krystal and determine whether her injuries and death could have been prevented.

KRYSTAL'S LEGACY

No woman should enter a hospital expecting to welcome her child into the world and instead suffer catastrophic injuries without every question being answered.

No family should spend more than a year watching someone they love fight for survival while wondering whether more could have been done.

No child should grow up without her mother without every effort being made to uncover the truth.

Our hope is that sharing Krystal's story will not only help our family find answers but also raise awareness about maternal health, long-term care, and patient safety. If her story helps improve care and protects even one other family from experiencing this kind of heartbreak, then her legacy will continue to make a difference.

If you are unable to donate, we humbly ask that you please share Krystal's story.

Every share matters.

Every prayer matters.

Every donation brings us one step closer to answers.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, your prayers, and your support.

In Loving Memory of

KRYSTAL AISEN PERKINSON
