On 3/18/2020 at around 430pm, my mom went outside to get the mail and took our dog Kiwi with her as she always does. Just as they got back into our garage, these two huskies who had escaped from a neighbors yard up the street from us entered our garage. Kiwi positioned himself in between the huskies and my mom. One of the huskies lunged forward and closed its massive jaws around Kiwi, killing him instantly. As my mom tried to free Kiwi, one of the huskies scratched her arm. Once the huskies let go and left, my mom immediately rushed Kiwi down the street to the pet emergency room where they performed about 10 minutes of CPR on Kiwi, but were unable to resuscitate him. With the help of neighbors we were able to find the owners of the two huskies. When we told them what happened they were very unsympathetic and have yet to even apologize. When we told them the vet bill they didn’t even offer to pay it. As any pet owner knows, a dog is a part of the family. We demand justice for Kiwi. We found a lawyer to help us, but we do need help with the legal bills. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you so much for at least reading this story. Kiwi deserves to be remembered as a hero. He spent his last moments on this earth protecting my mom.
