On March 30th, my beloved cat Kaori went in for what was supposed to be a routine dental procedure. During the procedure, she was placed under anesthesia. Tragically, the valve that controlled the rebreather was closed at some point, causing her lungs to be pumped full of air. Both of her lungs collapsed, and she passed away while still under the vet’s care. The loss was sudden, devastating, and completely preventable.

I adopted Kaori when I was 18 and a freshman in college, far from home and in need of a companion. She quickly became my best friend and emotional support animal, helping me through college, a difficult breakup, four different moves, and countless moments of both joy and sadness. Everyone who met her loved her, and she brought comfort and happiness to my life every single day. Losing her in this way has left a hole in my heart, and I am determined to seek justice for her.

The funds raised will go directly toward covering the costs of legal action, including expert opinions, records analysis, and legal and lawyer fees.
