Justice for Kamille: Support Her Recovery After a Hate Crime
Donation protected
On the night of November 10th, 2024, my best friend Kamille Reed, 18, was a victim of a political and racial hate crime. She was assaulted over a political argument. This altercation resulted in 3 stitches, a concussion, and lasting trauma.
Me, two of our friends, and Kamille were just walking home from her job. On the way home from her work, we passed by a house covered in Trump signs and banners. Kamille had commented on the signs, which provoked the house's wife to come out. Once she came out, she started screaming at us, particularly Kamille. Heated words were exchanged, but Kamille never once got violent or overly aggressive. The wife of the house went back inside and called the cops on us. As she did so, her husband walked out and started yelling at us and following us down 2 blocks until we reached our house. The wife came running down the street with her phone flashlight on, and shoved it in Kamilles face, blinding her. Kamille threw her hands up to block the light, not touching her whatsoever. After Kamille threw her hands up in defense, the wife bludgeoned her in the corner of her head with her phone three times. She then got Kamille to the ground and started choking her to the point of almost losing consciousness. The wife ended up telling the police that SHE was assaulted, even though Kamille never touched her. This resulted in Kamille’s arrest on the 13th for said “assault”.
This other woman has yet to be arrested. Kamille and the 3 of us feel unsafe with her being out, as she lives 2 blocks down from us and knows where we live.
We’re currently searching for a well-established defense attorney. Your donations would be greatly appreciated to help us pay for the attorney, medical bills, and Kamilles bail.
Kamille is a very kind, smart, understanding person and she did not deserve the violence that was inflicted on her that night. She’s an amazing friend, sister, aunt, and daughter. She is still in college, studying motion graphics, and is very active in political activism and fighting for human rights.
Please help us get Kamille the justice she deserves!
