Justice for Justin Wynn and Aid for his Critical Recovery

Donation protected
Justin Wynn is only 36 years old and is lucky to be alive. He is the victim of random gunfire on the highway which left him in critical condition and on life support.

Here is his story:

It was a typical Friday afternoon (June 20th) when Justin was heading home after work. While traveling on Birmingham Hwy in Montgomery, someone from another vehicle began shooting at Justin's car. The bullets went through his car door and hit him in the neck. He lost control of his car but luckily landed in the median instead of oncoming traffic. Witnesses rushed to his aid and called 911. Justin was rushed to the hospital where he was immediately put on a ventilator while doctors determined the extent of his injuries and the next steps to take.

After a series of CT scans and X-rays, physicians informed Justin's parents (Glenda and Guy Wynn) that the bullet traveled through his neck, critically fracturing his cervical vertebra (C3 and C4). Unfortunately, the bullet did not exit but is lodged next to his spinal cord. At this time, doctors are not planning to remove the bullet due to the risks involved. Doctors told everyone to prepare for a long, slow journey while Justin remained in the critical care unit of the trauma center.

Days and nights turned into weeks. Each passing minute has been long and torturous for his beloved family, devoted friends, and church members. After many weeks of fighting fevers and blood pressure issues, Justin’s breathing slowly began to improve. This improvement gave doctors the confidence to perform a tracheotomy. With more time and intense respiratory therapy, the ventilator was finally removed! He has also been working with physical therapy to regain movement of his arms and his legs.

Experts have told the family to expect an unknown amount of time for Justin to heal. There will be facilities (more than one) he will be transferred to where he will undergo intensive physical therapy along with respiratory and speech therapy. The medical expenses and travel expenses for his family are sure to mount astronomically. The last thing we want for Justin is to have him worry about finances when all he should concentrate on is his recovery. Therefore, his family and friends have come together to ask for your help. No one could have predicted this tragedy and the ensuing financial difficulties it will bring. Graciously, we are asking for everyone's help. Please give what you can, even if it is only through prayer for this young man. Please note that sharing this link is another vital way to help Justin. The more people we can reach, hopefully, the more funds we can raise for his short and long-term healthcare, travel expenses for his family, and Justin’s out-of-work unpaid bills. If anyone deserves our help, it is Justin Wynn.

Anyone who knows him is simply stunned that such a violent act could touch the life of such a fine, upstanding young man. Justin is a deacon at his church, a devoted son to his mother and father, and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. He is my cousin and I can say that after knowing him for all of his 36 years, he is still the funniest and my most favorite person to be around. I know many others feel the same. Justin has made friends for life since he was in grade school. Graduating college and beginning separate careers has never diminished the relationships this young man has built. He is not just a friend to others but is more like family.

Family and friends all know that Justin is strong and a fighter. He has faced many challenges in life where he demonstrated unreserved tenacity and determination, even while going through open-heart surgery at only 30 years of age. He IS a fighter and survivor and this time will be NO exception. Please help support OUR HERO along his path of recovery. Give what you can, please share Justin’s story and know that you’ve helped one of the finest that God ever made. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
