My son, Joshua Max Kent, was murdered at just 19 years old in Orchard Lake, Michigan, on September 24, 2017. He was discovered the next day, and despite the passage of eight years, no one has been held accountable. Everyone was told and took the fifth. As his mother, I have lived every day with the pain of unanswered questions, but I believe someone knows what happened. After eight years, relationships change, loyalties shift, and people who were once afraid to speak are ready. I am launching a public awareness campaign to generate new tips and finally bring justice for Josh.
Josh was not just my son, he was an extraordinary human being. He had a rare compassion for others and a deep love for life. Friends describe him as the person who showed up when anyone was hurting, even people he barely knew. He had a way of making others feel seen, understood, and supported. He was preparing to move to California to work in a professional Grammy music studio. Music was his passion. By age 19, he had already created thousands of songs and dreamed of building a life doing what he loved. He was excited, hopeful, and ready for the future. Instead, his life was taken.
Funds raised will be used for billboard placement in the Detroit area, news and media coverage, a reward for information leading to an arrest, tip line and outreach efforts, and public awareness to encourage witnesses to come forward. Josh’s birthday is April 30, and our goal is to have the campaign active before then to honor his life and keep his memory alive. If you have any information, no matter how small, please come forward. You may remain anonymous. Josh deserved a full life. He deserved to see his dreams come true. He deserved to grow old. Please help us seek justice for him. Every share matters. Every donation helps. Every voice can make a difference. Thank you for standing with us and for remembering Josh. All my love, Josh's mother, Linda
