Justice for Jorge: ICE Ambushed Him During Asylum Interview

Donation protected
My name is David Torres, and I am a U.S. citizen.
My husband, Jorge Amado Hernandez Cerrato, was taken by ICE inside the Houston USCIS office on November 4, 2025 — during his affirmative asylum interview. We did everything the government asked us to do. We followed every rule. We showed up, in good faith, hoping that our 10-year immigration journey was finally nearing an end.

Instead, ICE agents knocked on the interview room door and took Jorge away just after he was sworn in.

Jorge has:
✅ Dismissed removal proceedings
✅ An approved I-130
✅ An approved I-601A hardship waiver
✅ No criminal record
✅ A documented credible fear of returning to Honduras
✅ 8 years of marriage and a home, family, and life in Texas

We were hopeful for safety — they gave us handcuffs.

Why this is urgent

Jorge was placed in ICE detention and denied continuity of medical care.
He takes escitalopram, a daily antidepressant, and has now gone days without it. Staff dismissed him and told him to “drink more water.” This kind of abrupt interruption can trigger severe physical and mental consequences.

His attorney went to the detention facility to meet him, and was told Jorge wasn’t there — even though he was. Whether this was incompetence or something more, it is terrifying to see how carelessly human beings are treated.

Jorge told me the conditions are inhumane. People sleep on floors. Water is rationed. Food is barely edible. Many others were arrested the same day across Houston — people who, like Jorge, were following the law and attending scheduled USCIS appointments.

Why we need help

We are fighting for:
✅ Jorge’s immediate release
✅ A habeas petition in federal court
✅ A fair asylum process, without ambush arrest
✅ His access to medication and basic dignity

Legal representation and emergency litigation are extremely expensive.
We are asking for help to fund:

Habeas corpus proceedings

Federal litigation

Emergency medical advocacy

Filing fees and legal motions

Potential bond

Visits and communication while detained

Other expenses related to this injustice

We only want what is fair

We followed the rules.
We trusted the system.
We showed up to the government office they told us to go to.

And they took my husband from me.

This is not law enforcement — it is cruelty.

If you can contribute, share this, or simply keep us in your prayers, we are grateful.
No family should be torn apart for doing things the right way.

Thank you for helping us fight for justice, dignity, and for Jorge to come home.
