Known by many for her compassion, intelligence, generosity, and grace, Jerusha "Rue" Sanjeevi was a promising student whose goal in life was to make the world a safer place for victims of abuse and individuals suffering from mental illness and traumas. Jerusha tragically took her life April 24, 2017 after enduring 8-months of racially-charged bullying while matriculating through the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Utah State University (USU).
Jerusha's boyfriend, Matthew Bick, has filed a lawsuit against USU for negligence, wrongful death, and intentional infliction of emotional distress in relation to the universities failed action on her reports of bullying. Further, the lawsuit outlines how her experience violated her civil rights. Jerusha's death has affected the lives of those she knew personally and those who have known of her. As stated in a previous GoFundMe campaign to raise enough money for her memorial and funeral services, Jerusha brought warmth and support into the lives of those she crossed paths with across all of her life's chapters.
The purpose of this funding campaign is to ask for donations to assist in paying for the legal costs required to pursue compensatory damages for her family in Malaysia. All funds will be used towards the legal proceedings for the lawsuit against USU. If any funds remain, the money will be given to Jerusha's parents.
