Justice for Jase: Protecting a Child's Rights

Donation protected
My name is Danielle, and I am a mother fighting for my child.

My son Jase goes to school eve
ry day carrying something no child ever should: fear. Fear of being bullied.

Fear of being singled out. Fear of not being believed. Fear that the adults who are supposed to protect him will instead punish him for surviving.

Jase has learning disabilities. He processes the world differently, and because of that, he is more vulnerable—not less deserving of protection. Instead of receiving understanding, accommodations, and support, my son has been treated as a problem. He has been targeted, disciplined more harshly than others, and repeatedly misunderstood in ways that feel not just unfair, but discriminatory.

For months, Jase has endured harassment from other students. He has been insulted, humiliated, and isolated. When he finally speaks up or tries to defend himself, he is the one punished. The behavior that hurts him is minimized or ignored. The pattern is devastating: the child with disabilities becomes the scapegoat.

Even more heartbreaking, some of the most damaging words have not come from students—but from school staff. Words that no child should ever hear from an adult. Words that made my son feel unwanted, hopeless, and afraid of going to school. A child who already struggles is being broken by the very system that is supposed to protect him.

I have done everything a mother is supposed to do. I documented. I reported. I requested meetings. I followed procedures. I asked for accommodations, intervention, and accountability. Instead, I have been met with silence, deflection, and a system that seems more focused on managing complaints than protecting a vulnerable child.

This is not just bullying.

This is not just poor communication.

This is discrimination against a child with learning disabilities.

Jase is not a problem to be managed.

He is not “too much.”

He is not disposable.

He is a child who deserves safety.

He is a child who deserves dignity.

He is a child who deserves to go to school without fear.

I am now at the point where emails and meetings are no longer enough. I need legal representation to protect my son’s rights, to stop the discriminatory treatment, and to make sure what is happening to him does not continue—whether to him or to any other child with disabilities.
But legal help comes with a cost I cannot carry alone. I have already gone through the savings I had.

This fundraiser is to cover attorney retainer fees, legal filings, and the cost of holding a school system accountable when it fails a child—especially a child with disabilities who is legally entitled to protection, accommodation, and equal treatment.

I never wanted to be here. I never wanted to ask strangers for help.

But I will do anything to protect my son.

If you are a parent… you understand.

If you or your child has a disability… you understand.

If you believe that children deserve to feel safe in the place they are required to be every day… you understand.

This is not about money. This is about justice. This is about a mother standing between her child and a system that has already hurt him too many times.

If you cannot donate, please share.

Please help my son’s story be heard.

Please help me show Jase that when the world feels cruel and unfair, there are still people who care.

Thank you for standing with us.

Thank you for believing my child.

Thank you for helping me fight for my son.

— Danielle, Jase’s mom
