Justice for James K. Cooper: This Wasn’t Suicide — Help Us Find the Truth
---
My name is Nadine, and I’m the mother of 23-year-old James — my son, my heart, my joy.
James was known as the jokester, the one who could light up any room. In the spring of 2023, he left Wisconsin to start over in Mississippi, where he hoped to rebuild his life with the support of a church and the woman he loved.
Just two weeks after arriving, James was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
Authorities quickly ruled it a suicide. But we, his family, do not believe that’s what happened — and we have evidence that raises serious questions:
James was found sitting upright with a cord around his neck — not hanging.
Zip ties were found in his hands.
He had plans that day: to get a haircut and an ID.
His girlfriend, who told James she was dying, was later found to have lied about her illness — and had allegedly used this same story on multiple men.
James had just been baptized, found a church family, and was looking forward to a new beginning. Nothing about his life or his mindset pointed to self-harm. The facts do not add up.
