Isaiah Kirby, 21 years old May 14, 2004 – April 15, 2026

Isaiah was a deeply loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was raised in a close, supportive, and loving family that poured into him guidance, encouragement, and unwavering love. His life was abruptly and tragically taken by the East Lansing Police due to excessive use of force…just one month before his 22nd birthday.

From the time Isaiah was just 3years old, he had an undeniable fascination with animals, especially snakes and sharks. While other children played with toys, Isaiah wanted books, documentaries, and hands-on experiences with wildlife. That lifelong passion led him to pursue a degree in Zoology with a concentration in Herpetology at Michigan State University, where he worked diligently toward his dream of making a difference in the field he loved.

Isaiah was on the brink of an exciting future. He was scheduled to travel to Texas from April 16th -19th for a job interview with a company eager to hire him following his graduation this summer. He had earned this opportunity through years of hard work, determination, and academic excellence.

Isaiah was intelligent, expressive, and deeply compassionate. He had a natural ability to connect with others and was always willing to help a friend, family member, or even a stranger. His kindness extended to both people and animals alike. He graduated high school with over a 4.0 GPA and earned multiple academic and football scholarships through his dedication and perseverance.

Above all else, Isaiah was profoundly loved and will be forever missed. His family is now navigating unimaginable grief while seeking justice and accountability for his death.

Funds raised will help support legal expenses and allow the Kirby family the time and space they need to mourn, heal, and honor Isaiah’s life.
