From Gilberto’s wife Skylar Lee Serrano: Please share this post and pray for justice for my husband Gilberto Merino Serrano. On 01/07/2026 around 2pm an ICE officer brutally dragged him from his car and illegally assaulted him by throwing him on the ground and busting his head. He was stopped on the highway just outside Charleston WV on the road toll after being racially profiled by ICE. He was on his way to fix our new house in Dunbar WV.
Gilberto came to this country 25 years ago. He has been paying his construction company taxes and taxes for his cars and house in Virginia for over 15 years. He has been a valuable member of our society and an amazing father and husband. He has a valid Virginia driver license. He was in the middle of the green card process and as far as we knew there were no issues.
We were legally married in Virginia on 04/24/2024. He is a legal caregiver for my youngest daughter Bella (5) who was only 2 years old when Gilberto came to our lives after her father passed away from a massive heart attack. Bella was so upset after I told her that Gilberto was hurt by bad people called ICE with hearts like ice
We are raising funds to get him an immigration lawyer to fight this illegal attempt at deportation. Please help us by donating or sharing ❤️
I’m proud to be an American seeing all the people across our wonderful country protesting against evil and chaos created by bad people. God’s justice is real.
Isaiah 30:18 (KJV)

From Kate: Skylar is a travel nurse working in Charleston, WV and a valuable part of our already underserved medical community. She and Gilberto had decided to move here! They were building a home here, in WV, and he was taken illegally. All funds will go towards the legal representation he is entitled to. He is a father, a husband, and a tax payer. He has no criminal record. There are no known charges against him. Please help if you’re able— sharing helps too!
