Hello, I am Porfirio Chavez, Gabriel's older brother. We are devastated to share the sudden and tragic loss of my brother Gabriel Chavez Avalos. My little brother was tragically killed in a DUI crash in San Jose, early morning of March 29 where a driver under the influence caused the accident that took his life.
Losing Gabriel has left a hole in our family that can never be filled. No family ever expects to face something like this, and the pain we are feeling is indescribable. He was 32 years old. He would've been 33 in June. My mother was living together with Gabriel, he worked tirelessly to provide for her and was always helping our Mother in all her needs. Gabriel was taken from our family far too soon.
My bro was a loving hardworking man who took pride in what he did. Gabriel graduated from Gonzales High School and completed his A.A. at Hartnell College. He worked in Security and was someone people could rely on - strong, dependable, and always there when you needed him. To us, he was more than that. He was a son, a brother, and a lovable uncle to all his nephews. His nephews were his motivation to be the best he can be, filled his heart with much Joy and meant the world to him. Our Family finds comfort in our faith and in the hope that Gabriel is now in God’s hands. We ask for your prayers for his soul, and for strength and peace for our family during this incredibly difficult time.
We are now facing the unexpected costs of bringing him home, funeral and burial expenses, and the many financial burdens that come with such a sudden loss. During this time, we are asking for Help. Any donation, will go directly toward funeral services, transportation, and supporting our family during this incredibly difficult time. In addition, we are working to support our mother during this time, including helping with housing costs and the need to relocate her.
We are also seeking justice for Gabriel and will continue to stand up for him during this process. We want to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving, and we hope his story can serve as a reminder to make safe and responsible choices. If you are unable to donate, we humbly ask for your prayers and that you please consider sharing this page. It truly means everything to us.
