Justice for Fired Janitor
Donation protected
Maria is a mother who lives with her two children--including a disabled son--who was fired after protesting the poverty wages she earned while cleaning a luxury office building in downtown Miami. Maria came to this country almost 30 years ago from Nicaragua and has worked hard her whole life, trying to provide for her family. She is a caring, single mom who takes food out of her own mouth to feed her family and the four rescue dogs she has taken into her humble home. She was fired earlier this month, after protesting low wages and organizing her coworkers to form a union.
Maria is behind a month on her rent and is scared that she may end up on the streets before Christmas. Despite her dire situation, she just took in another rescue (this time a cat) and is trying to stay positive for everyone that depends on her. She picked up a few days work selling flowers on the street, but says things look really bad. Her son asked her the other day if there were going to be any presents for Christmas, and all she could do was cry.
Please pitch in what you can to keep Maria and her family at home for the holidays.
