Help Mom Care for SAPD Shooting Victim, Erik Cantu

Donation protected
The most helpless feeling in the world is watching your child suffer, especially when it’s an unjustifiable action that caused their suffering. October 2, 2022, will forever be embedded in the minds and hearts of Erik Cantu’s family ~ specifically, his mother, Victoria Casarez.

17-year-old Erik Cantu was enjoying a late-night meal with his female companion at McDonald’s when he was approached by a now-former SAPD officer who unrightfully startled him by yanking his door open, causing him to react and flee for safety. Aimed at point-blank range, the former officer fired 10 shots from a .40 caliber, nearly costing him his life. Multiple bullets exploded major organs, ridged their way into his chest, and grazed other body parts, leaving him in critical condition and surviving entirely on life support for 3 weeks.

Victoria hasn’t left his side since she was allowed. When the incident first took place, a false accusation caused Erik to be placed under arrest. Although he couldn’t breathe on his own, he was handcuffed to his bed for days until the investigation and SAPD dropped the charges, allowing Victoria one 20-minute officer-supervised visitation per day. Since Erik has been able to feel his mother’s touch, he has shown signs that he could feel her touch.

My name is Natalie Anderson, and I am one of Victoria Casarez's best friends. I humbly ask our community to come together and support this beautiful family through the scariest time of their lives and allow Victoria to stay by his side throughout his recovery.

Victoria is currently on unpaid FMLA to care for Erik. If you are blessed with the ability to empathize and donate to help keep them afloat, we would be more than grateful and send you back all the best for your generosity so that she can continue to stay by his bedside. The money donated to this fund will go directly to Victoria to help with her financial needs while caring for Erik.

Erik's uncle has organized a Go Fund Me specifically for Erik to support his medical emergency, future healthcare expenses, and overall care. Your kindness, compassion, and generosity are greatly appreciated. Please continue to keep Erik in your heart and prayers.
