Justice for Dylan Liberti - US Supreme Court

Donation protected

Dylan Liberti was 24-years-old on July 27, 2016. He would get no older. On that hot summer day, a Scottsdale police officer shot and killed him.
Dylan died because two poorly trained, rookie police officers physically assaulted him for the "crime" of not wanting to sit on scorching concrete, chased him with drawn guns, tasered him, and then shot him down as he was desperately trying to stumble away from their attack.
Dylan had been feeling ill that hot day, and called 911 for medical help. Instead, he got a death he did not deserve.

We miss Dylan more than our poor words can say. He had dreams, hopes, and, best of all, a family that loved him deeply.
His death was a tragedy. More than that, it was a preventable tragedy. Police with proper training and self-control would have helped Dylan -- would have seen him as a citizen in need of help, not as an enemy to control, beat down, taser, and shoot.

We need police. We know that. But we need well-trained police who care more for helping their fellow citizens than they care for intimidating and abusing them. We need police who regard the public as potential friends and not as potential criminals. We need real reform and, as you know from seeing what is happening every day across our nation, we need it right now.

We have been fighting for Justice for Dylan since his death in 2016. Unfortunately, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in a heartbreaking two-to-one decision, ruled against us and denied our post-appeal petition, again by a two-to-one decision.

We only have 60 days to file our petition with the United States Supreme Court. Our lawyer will represent us in this final petition without charging for his work, but the filing fees and other costs for this final petition will be about $5,000.

We know how hard these times are for everyone. We confront a "perfect storm" of civil unrest, unemployment, economic uncertainty, political bitterness, and pandemic.

But as Americans, we have always confronted every challenge and, eventually, we have won. We will eventually win the battle for police reform. And, with God's help, we will win this case as well. If not, we will go down fighting. It is the least we can do for all of us, and most important, it is the least we can do for Dylan.

A donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. Every penny will be put to good use. If you cannot donate now, please sign our petition.
All donations will be going to my aunt and Dylan's Mom, Jeannine Liberti, to pay for the legal costs to take this case to the United States Supreme Court .

On behalf of our entire family, we appreciate all the love and support we have received. We do not want any other family to suffer the pain of losing a loved one to unnecessary, unreasoning, and uncontrolled police violence.
This is it. This is our final step toward finding Justice for Dylan. We cannot change the past. But maybe, just maybe, with your prayers and help, we can change the future.

God bless you all!
