On 5/6/2026, my best friend lost her sweet baby boy, Dodger, in the most heartbreaking and traumatic way imaginable.
Dodger, an almost 10-year-old King German Shepherd, was shot and killed on his own property. He was simply outside in his yard, minding his own business after accidentally getting out.
Their neighbor, a Skamania County police officer, drove his vehicle forward to corner Dodger, tased him, and then shot him three times in the yard. Afterward, he allegedly went inside his home, changed out of uniform, and deleted footage of the incident. The officer had been neighbors with them for 9 years; he knew Dodger for 9 years. Instead of calling them on their phone, he took action and shot Dodger after his taser didn’t give him the results he wanted. Dodger was facing away from him, trying to run and hide because he was scared.
Dodger was not aggressive. He was not “feral.” He was the definition of a gentle giant. Anyone who knew him knew how loving and kind he was. He played gently with cats, guinea pigs, and even tiny animals. He never harmed anyone unprovoked and brought nothing but love to the people and animals around him.
This was not self-defense. This was the killing of a beloved family member.
To make matters worse, there are now efforts to paint Dodger as dangerous in order to protect the person responsible. We refuse to let his name and memory be destroyed.
We are raising money to help cover attorney fees and legal costs for a civil case to fight for justice for Dodger. Every donation, share, and kind word means more than we can express. We want accountability, truth, and justice for the sweetest boy who deserved so much better.
Dodger was family. He was loved deeply, and his loss has shattered everyone who knew him.
Please help us fight for him.
