Justice for Daisy May

Hi everyone. As most of you may know, I am Stacie, the owner of the most amazing dog in the world, Daisy May Barber.
On May 30th, we brought Daisy to the vet because she was not eating and seemed to be very uncomfortable. Preliminary tests revealed a "mass" near her stomach but the type of mass could not be confirmed without surgery. Exploratory surgery was attempted by the vet on May 31st however, shortly after the surgery started, the vet called us to unform us that they did not feel comfortable continuing the operation because her intestines appeared to have multiple adhesions. Per the vet, these adhesions were ripping when any attempt to move her intestines was made. This meant that not only were they still not able to confirm what the mass was, but that she was now also at risk of going septic because she was leaking bowel. Our only option was for the vet to "stabilize" her, close her abdomen back up, and for us to transport her to the nearest emegency vet so that they may be able to perform life-saving surgery. The transport, though completely traumatizing, was successful and we were able to get her seen swiftly where upon she was again cut open from her breast bone to just above her vaginal area. Having these two surgeries was already stressful for her. And we of course were told the risks. But we could not walk away without giving her every chance to live. This dog wasn't just our pet, she was our everything.
On June 1st, the emergency vet called us to inform us that Daisy survived the 2nd surgery but unfortunately the mass they found was a surgical sponge that was left inside her from her spay surgery 3 years prior. The inflammation this sponge caused was intense, leaving her intestines to fully encapsulate it. The emergency vet had to remove 4 meters of her small intestines. We were prepared for what changes this sort of surgery would make for Daisy, and we would have done ANYTHING to assure she made it home to us. However, Daisy continued to struggle with complications, from high fever, massive amounts of water loss due to diarrhea, blisters and 2nd degree burns to her behind, and phlebitis to all four legs from multiple infiltrated IV lines. Our hearts broke for her and you could just tell her spirit was broken. Tens of THOUSANDS of dollars couldn't save her life.

Ultimately, after spending 7 nights in ICU, on June 7th, we had to make the hardest decision and euthanize our sweet Daisy May. A decision we should never have had to make for a healthy Labrador whom just turned 4 years old. Daisy's life was cut way too short due to vet malpractice, and it is my hope and wish to earn money to pay it forward to others who just may have a chance to save their own pet. I want to do this in honor of our sweet girl, because I know there are others out there who love their pets just as much as we do, but unfortunately can't afford the option to give their pets a chance at life❤️

Thank you in advance for all of your support!!
