On a day that changed our lives forever, our beloved service dog, Coco, was taken from us in an act of unthinkable violence. Coco wasn’t just a pet; she was the lifeline for our 10-year-old son, Wyatt. Wyatt lives with autism and a seizure disorder, and Coco was his constant guardian, trained to alert us to his seizures and provide the sensory support he needs to navigate the world.
The facts of the case are harrowing. Our neighbor, Joshua Brown, intentionally lured Coco out of her protected yard. With premeditation, using ear protection and a high-powered rifle, he shot Coco in the head. Despite two witnesses coming forward, Brown attempted to hide his actions by disposing of her remains in the woods. While he has since admitted to the crime and been charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty, he is currently out on bond.
While the legal system pursues justice for Coco, our family is left to pick up the pieces of Wyatt’s shattered world. Without his partner, Wyatt has lost his sense of safety and the medical alert system he relies on every day.
We are turning to our community to help Wyatt regain his independence.
Our Mission
A New Partner for Wyatt: Funds will go directly toward the acquisition and intensive training of a new service dog capable of seizure alert and autism support.
Justice Through Action: We want to ensure that such a cruel act does not end Wyatt’s ability to live a full, safe life.
Paying it Forward: Our family is committed to total transparency. Once legal restitution is recovered from the perpetrator, 100% of those recovered funds will be donated to a non-profit facility that trains service dogs for other children facing similar challenges.
⚖️ Why Your Support Matters
The cost of a fully trained service animal is immense, often reaching tens of thousands of dollars. By donating, you aren't just helping us buy a dog; you are restoring a child’s safety, helping a family heal from a traumatic crime, and eventually providing a lifeline to another child in need through our restitution pledge.
Please consider donating to help us turn this tragedy into a legacy of hope for Wyatt and other children like him. Every dollar brings us one step closer to justice for Coco and a new beginning for her boy.
