I never imagined I would be in a position where I would have to ask for help, but I have no other way to help my son.

My son, Casey Newman, has been in a California county jail for over a year, without a resolution to his case. During this time, we have experienced constant delays, missed court dates, and a system that has repeatedly failed him. He was scheduled to appear in court recently, but once again, he was not transported. I've lost count of how many times this has happened.

At one point, we were persuaded to hire a private attorney. Based on promises that they would fight for Casey. I paid a $4000 deposit - money I truly could not afford. However, I was never allowed to speak to the attorney, no calls, no emails, no communication whatsoever. We later learned that this firm misrepresented their work, never negotiated on Casey's behalf, and essentially took our money while doing nothing to help him.

Casey and I were even told that an alleged "negotiation" took place between the DA and his Paid Attorney. No such negotiation ever took place, it was simply an offer of a prison term by the DA, For a Kidnapping that he did not commit, for a Kidnapping that never happened..

As it now stands Casey has very limited phone privileges, so he is basically cut off for the most part, his being in a medical isolation unit he has no where to turn. Until recently he couldn't get calls through to his current Court Appointed Attorney;

He finally had a chance to talk to his Attorney to find out what has been done in his defense, not as much as he needs, but he did obtain yet another delay.

Now time is running out. His next Court date is coming up on June 2nd.

Casey Urgently needs a Trusted Attorney - someone who knows him-us and who is willing to step in Immediately and fight for him. This Attorney already holds $10,000 in retainer funds, we still need an additional $25,000 to get started. We are asking for $40,000 total to cover Legal Fee's, Critical Evidence Work, and GoFundMe costs.

However, Casey's situation is even more dire than just his legal battle.

While in custody, Casey was violently assaulted by another inmate. He was attacked from behind, knocked unconscious for over 8 hours, and left without medical care for 48 hours - though guards witnessed the attack. Several times his friends urged the guards for help, but they did nothing.

As time passed, Casey's condition worsened. He was in severe pain and eventually began bleeding from his ears - a clear sign of serious head trauma. Still, help was delayed. Finally they had medical look at Casey, He insisted on going to a real Hospital. Even though they knew that he was badly injured, Medical at this facility pleaded with Casey to Not go to the Hospital. We have reasonably deduced that it was because of the purposeful delay by the guards to get him the urgent medical care he'd needed all along. None of them cared, that broke me when I found out.

When Casey finally received proper medical attention, the damage found was severe.

He now suffers with pain, constant vertigo, nonstop ringing in his ears, and he cannot sleep lying down. He needs specialized neurological and dental care, but the jail has repeatedly failed to take him to his scheduled medical and dental appointments.

This is not just a legal crisis - it is a human one.

We are doing everything we can, but we cannot do this alone. Casey needs proper legal representation before his next court date. Necessary medical care, and a fair chance at justice.

Casey is working on becoming a Pastor, he's devoted his life to God and hopes to someday help many others. He now helps his neighbors as much as he can. Your prayers are needed and welcomed.
